In honor of the Cinco de Mayo today, I want to share with you some of what we love about the town we call home.
The historic city of Campeche, by the sea is calm and peaceful. Many families enjoy spending time walking or riding bikes on the 5 mile long oceanfront boardwalk or enjoying the air conditioning of the city's only mall, the Galeria.
But there is a whole lot more to see and do in Campeche with kids! Here is the list our kids put together of kid approved family activities:
See Campeche with Kids
- Pirate ship excursion into the sea of Campeche
- Playing in a playground – there are several fabulous playgrounds in town and in the neighborhoods

- Going fishing with your friends
- Taking the trolley tour around town
- Going to the ice cream store – hand dipped ice cream is the best!
- Going on a family walk or bike ride on the boardwalk
- Going to the mall (eat lunch, see the pets at the pet store, get ice cream, see a movie, buy a new book) The air conditioning is the real attraction if the truth be told.
- Having a trip to King Burger tonight (Burger King – the best air conditioned playground in town!)
- Visiting the Fort museums

- Casa 6 colonial history museum
- City gates and the light and sound show at night
- Statue scavenger hunt – the monuments have endeared themselves to us, and the kids love to talk about each one as we drive through town.
