Tokens of His Love

“Tokens of His Love”

This is a phrase that has come to mean a lot to me over the past several years. Here are just a couple of the things the Lord says about His love for us:

“He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.”

Song of Solomon 2:4

“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

Jeremiah 31:3

“I have loved you, saith the LORD….”

Malachi 1:2a

One person described God’s tokens as

The unnoticed ways the Lord shows his love to us day by day.

This friend said that she asks the Lord every morning for a token of His love and then expects to find one throughout the day. Whether it is a quote, or a smile, a verse, or an encouraging conversation, a special moment with a child, an unexpected blessing, the token may be anything that reminds her of the love the Lord has for her.

Through the years I have become more mindful of the too-often-unnoticed tokens of God’s love and have taken great delight in expecting them and in finding them. I encourage you to try it and see just how many “little” blessings you may have been overlooking, and then please share your experience in the comments, so I can rejoice with you in the noticing.
