Experiments and activities make Science so easy and so fun! Science has never been one of my favorite subjects, but I don’t want my kids to feel the same way. I love to hear them excitedly begging for more, like they did after this melting glacier and iceberg experiment.
It was a simple activity really. The only prep work was to put a cup of water, and a second cup of water and dirt or sand in the freezer the night before.
And the kids loved it! They watched the time and would alert us when 5 more minutes had passed and we needed to make the next observation. We decided taking pictures would make it easier to see and remember the melting process (and to share it with you).
Before the experiment, we read a lesson and afterwards we answered the questions in our science book and also filled out this page I whipped up to add to our science notebooks. But that was not enough. They were begging for more!
If you are looking for a fun science experiment for elementary grades, something that will incite curiosity and encourage a love of science in your kids, I recommend this kit! It gives you two blocks and you can watch the difference in conductivity and ice melting w/out having to be out in the sun. And of course using polka music while you work makes it more fun too!
Download your free science experiment page HERE! You could even use it with the video, just pause it to give time to write down the observations at the different time checks!
Now, go have your own fun with science!
