Worth the Wait
by Katie
“Daddy?” I asked when I was eight,
“When may I date?”
Laughingly he answered, “Well, my Kate,
You've still got much time to wait,
You've still got much time to wait.”
“Daddy?” I asked again at thirteen,
“Just what exactly does “wait” mean?”
“Kate”, he said more seriously, “it means
That things are not as they seem.
You still must wait.”
At eighteen I approached him, “Dad?”
“This dating stuff… There's no boys to be had!”
He smiled and said simply, “I'm glad.
But just you wait.
Just you wait.”
And then one day at twenty-three,
When I was my Hero's wife-to-be
My dear sweet Daddy said to me:
“Now wasn't love worth the wait?
Wasn't love worth the wait.”
Today (at 33) my Hero and I are celebrating our tenth consecutive Valentines Day! Not because we love each other any more on this day than others, but because we look for every opportunity to show each other, tell each other, remind each other that he/she was a decision we would make again in a heartbeat! God made us for each other, saved us for each other, and gave us to each other. Nothing in the world could convince us otherwise or inspire more awe for our Creator. Forever, and always, I love you Hero!
If you are still waiting, don't give in or give up, God will reveal His perfect will in His perfect time. Trust Him!
