My family has been living outside of the US for several years now. One one of the biggest challenges we face is finding healthcare providers whose ideas about health align with ours. Finding doctors who are interested in understanding and supporting us while also being trustworthy is a very difficult quest.
In addition, our skin color seems to make some people see dollar signs instead of the issue at hand, which can complicate things unnecessarily. Perhaps you can relate?
5 Reasons Why You Should Invest in Essential Oils:
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice. I am a friend sharing with you the reasons I believe missionaries, expats, and others should investigate and invest in essential oils. Here are 5 reasons we believe it beneficial to use essential oils, and especially when living overseas.
1. You Prefer Natural Essential Oils over Pharmaceuticals
I am not opposed to modern medicine, or doctors for that matter. And it's not that I consider myself a “health nut“, but I am opposed to quick and uninvestigated diagnosis. I am also opposed to medicating simply for pain relief and not for a cure. And I prefer to avoid ingesting chemicals whenever possible.
Most of the doctors we have had experience with outside of the US barely even let us list our symptoms before they are prescribing this, that, and the other medicine or drug. Sometimes it seems that pain is the worst possible thing one could have, rather than the actual illness.
When we take time to investigate, we have often found we can use the oils instead of the pharmaceuticals and feel better about what we are putting into our bodies at the same time.
2. You can Research Essential Oils in Your Own Language from a Company You Trust
The company we order our essential oils from provides LOTS of information and research to their customers and business partners, explaining their processes and production standards, as well as scientific studies of results seen by using their products. They are very open about it all, and even recommend that you do your own research and not merely take their word for it.
Instead of trying to identify and research chemicals in a second language (very difficult if you've never tried), I can easily find the information I need about the essential oils from their website (accessible anywhere), app, or printed materials, as well as other third party studies online.
I also like the fact that so many “laymen” are using essential oils and reporting their findings. These “real life” testimonies of uses and results have also been extremely educating and helpful as we have learned to use essential oils to promote health for our family.
3. You can Connect with a Phenomenal, Caring Community
The business plan of this company is laid out in such a way that each new customer gets to learn about essential oils and order them with the help of a “distributor”. This is a very well-educated, real-live person who can answer questions and educate about the proper uses of essential oils. They will be much more knowledgeable than the average employee at the local pharmacy.
The distributor can also introduce you to any of several Facebook communities where you will meet new friends and find a host of helpful, caring people to converse with – something that is often scarce when you are countries removed from your native home.
4. Using Essential Oils will Save You Time
I don't know how it is state side right now, but here, IF you can get an appointment with a specialist, it will take ALL DAY. Even the regular practitioner regularly runs 2-3 weeks out and 2-5 appointments behind schedule. It is not fun to wait or to spend all day in the waiting room when not feeling well and needing relief or answers.
With essential oils I have been able to learn how to get almost immediate support when I or a family member needs it, and if it is a more urgent issue at least we can support the problem naturally even while we wait to see a doctor.
5. Treating with Essential Oils will Save You Money
How much do you spend each month on healthcare appointments and medicines? Our Dr's visits alone cost nearly $50 each. With essential oils our family spends $50-$100 per month and we haven't been to a Dr.'s office with anyone in over a year. Digestive system, muscular system, PMS, endocrine system, skin, respiratory system, minor cuts, scrapes, etc…. the list of things we've successfully supported with essential oils is quite long.
So, if you've been on the fence about beginning to use essential oils, I invite you to contact me with your questions. Our family's only regret in using them, is that we didn't start learning about and using them sooner, and I know they are now available in over 70 countries world-wide.
