The Camera Dream
At BEECH recently, my friend Amanda shared that one of her dreams had always been to own a nice Camera. She wanted to delve deeper into photography, improve her skills, and enhance the memories in the photos she took. She put it off. There were always other things demanding her dollars – that is, until her Father died. Her father's death woke her to the realization that those heirloom quality photo opportunities will not be here forever, and for some of us the things we dream of doing one day may never get done. Three weeks after her father's death, Amanda purchased the fancy, up-to-date Camera of her dreams, and immediately began to sharpen her skills snapping up pictures of life.
Our Dream
Hero and I have dreamed for some time of making a difference in the Spanish speaking world through Christian education. In the last year God has focused that dream on Christian home education and we have stepped out, following His leading, to take steps toward making this dream a reality. Home education is legal in every state of Mexico, but there are very few materials available to non-English speakers and very little advertising for this wonderful educational option. We believe that in the next 5-10 years, Mexico will experience a home education boom similar to what the United States enjoyed in the 1970s and 80s.
In April of 2012, we began discussing our dreams for a literature based, Christian, home education curriculum in Spanish for Spanish speaking homeschoolers with a well known homeschool curriculum company in the USA. Within weeks we had the encouragement and offers of assistance necessary to begin developing our curriculum. In August we launched Lemonhass.com, a Spanish Christian bookstore site that was also a dream come true for us. In January, we put the finishing touches on the first grade Lemonhass Curriculum, and plan to have 4 year old pre-school and 5 year old Kindergarten materials available at Lemonhass.com by summer 2013. God has brought this dream to the verge of becoming a reality, and we pray that it will bless many families in the years to come.
Live your dream
I share our dream with you to encourage you that dreams should not be something out there, something that remains in the one day category. If God has given you a dream, go for it! Start taking steps now, today, to make that dream a reality. Because, as my friend Amanda shared, “one day may not come”. What dream do you need to be living today?
