There is value in the valleys
Where the trees grow twice as tall;
For they have all the benefits
Of the mountains’ waterfalls.There is value in the valleys
Where the sun shines not so bright;
For the honey bees and hummingbirds
On morning glories light.There is value in the valleys
Where the winds lie at a calm;
And trusting in the loving Lord
Is the soul’s most healing balm.

What valley are you in today?
Let me just remind you of the truth in this old gospel song: The God of the Mountain IS still God in the valley.
The value of abundant life
There is an abundance of oxygen in the valley – a chance for you to breathe deeply of your Savior's grace today. His life giving Spirit can grow you into a strong tree in the valley. Are you depending on His strength and His Spirit to live through you today?
The value of dampness
The dewy dampness of your soul could be the perfect spot for a morning glory garden. God often grows flowers of praise through showers of tears. Have you praised Him yet today?
The value of work
Perhaps you need to remember that there is work to be done. Bees don't lament the location of their hive, they get to work doing what they were created to do. What is it that God wants you to do for Him in your valley today?
The value of trust
Are you so busy bemoaning your valley that you've forgotten to recognize God's hand in leading you through it. Perhaps He chose this path to protect you from buffeting winds or a fall from the heights. You may never know the why, but does it really matter? It's time to trust your Lord today, in this valley, with your whole heart. Will you follow where He leads and let Him give you rest and healing in this valley?
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. (Psalm 23:4-5)
