This week's What to Read Wednesday post is all about teaching children to tell the TRUTH. Apart from Proverbs (in the Bible) I'll be sharing some of my most highly recommended resources below.
The featured post from last week is 40+ Activities That Teach Kids Thankfulness.
For the Littles:
The Berenstain Bears and the Truth by Stan and Jan Berenstain
Howard B. Wigglebottom and the Monkey on His Back: :A Tale About Telling the Truth by Howard Binkow
Ruthie and the (Not So) Teeny Tiny Lie by Laura Rankin
Princess K.I.M and the Lie That Grew by Maryann Cocca-Leffler
Don't Tell Lies, Lucy: A Cautionary Tale by Phil Roxbee Cox
Telling the Truth:Minding our Manners by
The Children's Book of Virtues by William J. Bennett
For the Biggers:
Lies Young Women Believe and the Truth That Sets them Free by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Dannah Gresh – This is an amazing study and can be a great experience for a mother/daughter Bible study or a small group of teen girls. I would not allow my daughter to go through it alone as certain chapters need some adult guidance for the discussion.
QBQ! The Question Behind the Question by John G. Miller- also a great read for teens and parents alike (there is a parenting version of this as well!) This helps kids learn to be responsible and own up to their own mistakes, make things right, and keep their word.
Now for the Link-Up Party!
This list has our topics for 2015, but you don't have to stick to that, anything reading and family related is welcome. Our hosts will still share a themed selection each week, but our link up will be for anything family friendly – always. If you'd like to join us as a co-host in the new year, please contact Katie.
