For todays post about missionaries I'm going to take you to my friend Amy's blog, RaisingArrows.
I have been reading Amy's large family blog for a long time, so I was thrilled to meet her at a conference recently. And even more thrilled when she asked me to guest post for her on the subject of missionaries and how families can get to know them and get involved with them! It is such a blessing to be doing that today!
My post is titled “6 Ways to Teach Your Children About Modern Day Missions” and I'll be sharing some ways that you can make missions come alive for your kids.
The job of taking the Gospel around the world is not just for heroes in the Christian biography books we read, it's for today's Christian. We want our children to
- see missionaries as real people, just like them. We want them to get to know missionaries personally, to catch their vision, and to be willing to go wherever and to whomever God sends them. Because unless that happens, tomorrow's world will not have missionaries!
- recognize the responsibility of the church as a whole to partner with the missionary for the spread of the Gospel. Missionaries are to be sent out under the authority and with the aid of local churches to reach people for Christ in places that church body physically cannot. The body cannot be involved with the arm's work if the body has cut off the arm. Missionaries should not be “on their own” but a part of the greater working body of Christ. We must get involved!
I hope you will enjoy the post, and please take a look around Raising Arrows while you are there. It's a great blog and definitely one I would recommend subscribing to!
