I know it is “in vogue” in recent history to choose a word for the year. Before that it seemed to be a verse. As it turns out this year I have been given both.
Last year my word for the year was Amplify, as my husband and I had a huge urging to amplify our efforts in ministry and in business. We praise God for the goals reached, milestones crossed and blessings received as God led us through the last 12 months.
I began thinking about the word for the year in late November and by mid-December it seemed both Hero and I were sure of it. This year's word is Expand.
And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez prayed to the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that thou wouldest
- bless me indeed,
- and expand my territory,
- and that thine hand might be with me,
- and that thou wouldest keep me from evil,
- that I may not cause others pain!”
And God granted him that which he requested. (paraphrase)
Jabez prayed (a specific, focused prayer).
God granted.
Praise his name!
I am sharing about this passage and our inspiration for this year's goals over at Como Blog today. I'd love to have you join us there for the rest of the post.
If you have never read the book, The Prayer of Jabez, it's a great little read and one that should be on your 2016 reading list!
What is your word or scripture for 2016? I'd love to have you share it in the comments or link up your post below.

I did this verse a couple of years ago. It’s a wonderful verse! Have you read The Prayer of Jabez by Bruce Wilkinson? https://www.biblio.com/book/prayer-jabez-breaking-through-blessed-life/d/855755879?aid=frg&utm_source=google&utm_medium=product&utm_campaign=feed-details&gclid=Cj0KEQiAzai0BRCs2Yydo8yptuIBEiQAN3_lFljh7IftXKxqlmKFOGeQvbXF0ZY0sNX6PvOdOqwxzHkaAiM58P8HAQ
