As part of our countdown to Christmas each year, we generally include a few activities that have become family traditions and are looked forward to each year. One of those is our family slumber party by the Christmas Tree.
When I was a child I used to love to lay under the tree and look up through the branches at all the twinkling lights, or just sit nearby and stare at it, mesmerized by the beauty. When our oldest was about 6 we came up with the idea to spend one night in December having a family slumber party by the lighted Christmas tree.
We pull out blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, etc, and often sing carols and hymns together as we lay there looking at the lights. It's funny how something so simple can become so meaningful and memorable to children.
This is one tradition that doesn't cost any money and is not about giving or receiving of gifts. It's just pure, simple, out of the ordinary, family time and we love it! Our kids cannot wait to do it again this year!
This week a few other FUN bloggers and I have decided to come together and share all of our Oh Christmas Tree ideas with you all. We would absolutely be tickled if you're a blogger and would add like to add a post to the link up. There are no rules except the post must be in some way related to a Christmas Tree. Have FUN!
