If you want a short recipe for a great marriage check out Ephesians 5:33. This is the best Bible verse about marriage verse there is:
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. (KJV)
When he obeys
When the husband obeys and loves his wife “even as himself” one of her greatest needs is met – the need to be loved. This unselfish love is what is described in Ephesians as God's love for the church. A love that would go so far to protect and provide for her well-being as to lay down his own life for her. It will be easier for her to respect him, when she feels loved like this.
When she obeys
When the wife obeys she will “reverence her husband”. One of his greatest needs is to feel respected, and honored. This is not often something that comes easy to women. Love comes naturally to us, but we are asked to unselfishly and without jealousy respect him. When he feels respected and honored it will be easier for him to love.
God's perfect plan
God knew what he was doing when he inspired the writing of this verse. When we both are more concerned about the other than ourselves, we will have the best marriage. We will communicate better. We will enjoy each other more. We will truly be “one flesh”, acting in unity as God so beautifully designed it.
Will you share your heart with us today? What is your favorite verse on marriage or a verse that has meant a lot to you in your marriage?

We can never see God’s Word in our marriages enough, Katie. My husband and I have a chalkboard near our kitchen where we write scripture for one another and anyone who visits. One of our favorites to recall is ! Corinthians 13:7 “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things.” Thanks for the awesome post!

I love that verse too Beth. And your chalkboard idea is lovely. Going to write that down.
