You've heard the saying “the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.” Could that also be true with the Gospel?
This post is part of our Kids Doing Ministry Series.
In trying to come up with a creative way to reach out to our friends, neighbors and acquaintances at Christmas time, our family cooked up a plan.
We would give them the Gospel through sweets.
Cinnamon rolls to be exact.
Thirty dozen, (yes, I said 30 dozen. that's approximately 360) sweet, spicy, sticky, buttery, beautiful cinnamon rolls!
We topped them with a butter frosting and sprinkles. Everyone helped in one way or another, mixing, buttering, sugaring, frosting, sprinkling, packaging, delivering. It took us 2 days to bake and deliver our special packages.
We had such a wonderful time! The kids glowed when given the opportunity to give these goodies (made by them) to friends and acquaintances!
The best part was that many of the people who might not otherwise have allowed us to share the Gospel with them or give them a tract, were more than happy to listen and accept our tracts when accompanied by our homemade sweets.
Perhaps the way to a man's heart IS through his stomach. At least it opened a door for them to hear God's good news of salvation!
How have you used food or baking to minister to others? Please share your ideas in the comments! We'd love to hear your stories!
