A Successful School Year starts with organizing your facts and non-negotiables. The key to planning your homeschool year calendar successfully is to know ahead of time what are your non-negotiables, both with education and with schedule, and to plan your “school year” around that.
How to Plan a Successful Homeschool Year Calendar
State Requirements for Your Homeschool Year
- # of days of schooling to be completed
- records to be kept
- due dates for turning in records or evaluation reports
Family Dates/Commitments for the Year
These are your non-negotiables, already on the calendar:
- trips
- vacations
- competitions
- other travel
- appointments
- visitors
- sports games
- ministry activities
- holidays
Negotiable Dates
- music/sports lessons
- Volunteer Work (VBS, summer kids clubs, local pool lifeguard)
- Field Trips/ Learning Excursions
- Work (babysitting, sidewalk sales, lawn mowing, waittressing, etc.)
