Trumpets in the Bible were a symbol of war and of victory, off announcements and of praise. Today in our What to Read Wednesday book recommendations we are learning about trumpets and other brass instruments in the symphony orchestra.
Our featured post from last week is Paleo Stuffed Baked Apples (GF) from OCD Kitchen
Trumpet Books
My Two Grandads by Floella Benjamin – The story of a child who loves music because his grandparents do!
Ben's Trumpet by Rachel Isodora – a tale of the 20s and a child who dreamed of becoming a musician.
Meet the Orchestra by Ann Hayes – (ages 4-8) an introduction to the instruments in the Symphony Orchestra.
The Story of the Orchestra by Robert Levine – Eye-catching illustrations, engaging text and delightful musical selections on the accompanying 70-minute CD lead children ages 8 to 12 (and parents, too!) on an exciting and educational tour through the instruments and music of the orchestra.
Brass Instruments by Anthony Banes- for older students studying music history, or the Middle Ages or Renaissance history.
Feasts of the Bible by Rose Publishing- Describes and explains the Jewish Feast of the Trumpets mentioned in Scripture, as well as several other feasts. Very interesting and a great addition to family or personal Bible study.
