Homeschooling Missionaries
Many missionaries homeschool their children. There are as many reasons for this as there are missionaries since each one's circumstance and field is unique.
One of the biggest reasons we are homeschooling missionaries is to include our children in ministry and disciple them to the point that they also develop a servants heart and desire to minister to others.
Kristine Lien, a missionary wife in Indonesia, has written a great three-part series about missionaries and homeschooling on the Baptist Missionary Women blog. Kristine says:
Our family defines ministry as being the channel through which God meets the needs of others by His grace. When I homeschool my children, my purpose is to prepare them for ministry.
Whether you are a missionary or not, I highly recommend that you read her articles. You may be enlightened, encouraged, and challenged. I know for me it was all of that and more! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think you will too!
If you are a homeschooling missionary struggling through this season of homeschooling on the field, you may also want to read Homeschooling on the Mission Field, an article I wrote for Homeschool Survival.com.
My prayer is that you will be encouraged today!

I have quite a few boxes of homeschooling material that i would love to donate to missionary families who homeschool their kids, knowing it can be expensive. They are welcome to use the materials or sell them to get money to buy what they need. I live in clearwater, fl and really don’t have the money to ship heavy books. I believe many missionaries have to come back to the states for a time. I wonder if you could help connect me with someone or a website or send me info to help me help someone in need.

Thank you Beverly for your generosity. I will email you privately about this, I have some ideas.

Mission Nannys (missionnannys.com) is an organization that recruits volunteers to help missionary families who need help with homeschooling or true nanny work. Visit the website to find out if MN could be a help to your family.

Thanks for sharing that resource, John.
