I gave 10 suggestions for apps to learn Spanish with last week. They are a wonderful way to learn and practice Spanish, but sometimes you need a full course. Here are 5 sites with programs for learning Spanish for FREE. A few of them have the option to upgrade for more content, but there is more than enough available for free, even for high school!
1. DuoLingo
DuoLingo is an app, but also a free online language program. You can pick what language you want to learn, set up an account (you will need a valid email address) and then you can get started. Placement tests are available for those with some prior language study, otherwise you start with the basics.
You can go at your own pace and set goals based on how quickly you would like to learn a language. DuoLingo incorporates translation practice to and from the language you are learning through writing and by using the microphone on your computer. The microphone function can be turned off if you don't wish to use it.
Each time you learn a word in your new language, it is added to a list that tells the word, its part of speech, and its translation, so that you can quickly see how many words you have learned.
There is also a teacher section that is great for homeschoolers! Here, you can track your student's progress and see how they are doing with their lessons.
2. Spanish Hour
Spanish Hour has a FREE 50-day course to teach you Spanish. Once you create an account, you can watch videos, practice vocabulary, and even print out vocabulary lists and flash cards. There is also a section to help you get ready for the Spanish CLEP Test.
If you upgrade to the paid version there are vocabulary games to play and the program will be available in a MP3 format as well.
3. Easy Peasy All-In-One Homeschool
If you haven't looked at Easy Peasy All-In-One Homeschool, you really should! Created by a homeschool mom, there are full year-long courses available for kindergarten through 8th grade. The best part is that everything on the site is FREE.
Easy Peasy currently has two Spanish courses available – one for 6th grade and one for 7th grade, but both courses can be used by younger kids as well. For older students and adults their sister site has high school Spanish.
Each day you or your student goes to the website to do the work that is listed for the day. Activities include watching Spanish videos, vocabulary practice, games, translation practice, and a lot more. It is a simple approach, but as you work through the course you will see progress.
4. Georgia Virtual Learning
Georgia Virtual Learning has several different FREE online courses including Spanish 1, 2, and 3. These will cover content normally found in a high school class and include printouts, quizzes, and videos.
Georgia Virtual Learning is a traditional school approach to learning Spanish online. The only possible downside to this one is that it is common core aligned. If that bothers you, you may decide to choose something else.
5. Online Free Spanish
This site is great for younger kids. It includes a lot of fun activities for learning Spanish vocabulary. It includes both online and offline activities making learning a new language fun. This site is similar to a lot of the apps I recommended before, and includes bright colors and entertaining graphics to bring the language to life.
Adding in one or more of these programs to your day should have your student mastering Spanish sooner than you expect.
Do you know of any other free online programs for learning Spanish? We'd love to know what you recommend as well.

Since you are no longer giving away a free Spanish lesson book, I recommend taking down all images and language advertising the free book. Someone could easily report you to the FCC and the fines for false advertising are stiff. Hate to see you loose your business.
