Dear Friends,
Welcome to Share Your Heart Tuesday. I'm so glad you've stopped by for a chat.
Remember in Matthew 14:22-33 how Jesus came to the disciples, walking on the water? Peter was so thrilled to see him that he asked to come to him and when called, he jumped out of the boat to walk to Jesus. All was well, until he took his eyes off the Lord and began to look at the waves around him.
You may have heard me say before
Comparison kills contentment.
It's a true statement and one I have to repeat to myself often. I'm human just like Peter, and just like you, and when I take my eyes of of my Lord and focus more on my circumstances or lack of circumstances, I begin to sink into the choppy sea of comparison.
Often while sinking, I forget that my Creator God made me unique with unique gifts and abilities (1 Corinthians 12). I forget that he placed me in my unique circumstances, my own sphere of influence, to bring him glory (Romans 15:6).
In comparing myself to others, my ungrateful heart begins to complain and to covet what others have or have accomplished for the Lord.
Comparison kills contentment.
But, when I focus on my Lord, I can see the blessing after blessing he has provided to me and the opportunities I have to praise him and to bring him glory in my own God ordained and blessed sphere of influence. And like Peter, he lifts me up, forgives my unbelief, and helps me worship him again.
From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another. John 1:16 NIV
How blessed I am. How blessed we all are! Won't you take a moment today to refocus on Christ and with thanksgiving, recount to yourself and others his bountiful blessings in your life?
