I think it is natural that most people, and especially children, can take pleasure from watching birds. I like to think that God gave them to us as a reminder of our own importance to him.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Matthew 6:25-26
Today's What to Read Wednesday book list is all about birds and how to identify them. If you have a child who enjoys birds, get a few of these titles to go through with them and encourage them to notice God's care for the birds as a reminder of God's care for us too.
