500 Palabras Nuevas Para Ti – suitable for infant through lower elementary
My First Spanish Word Book, bilingual – appropriate for preschool to lower elementary. Each 2-page spread covers a new theme of vocabulary words. Taking 1 theme per week and every 6th week to review, you can cover the entire book in one school year.
The Cat in the Hat beginner Book Dictionary in English and Spanish – appropriate for 2nd through middle school
Merriam-Webster's Illustrated Spanish-English Student Dictionary – This dictionary has more than 40,000 entries with clear, concise translations and definitions and it is bidirectional: English to Spanish and Spanish to English. Suitable for upper elementary through high school.
The VOX Spanish and English Dictionary – is an international standard and one of the most popular choices for high school, college and beyond.
Barron's 501 Spanish Verbs – This book is an excellent reference guide for the advanced Spanish student. It contains all 15 tenses and moods for each verb and shows you how to use it.
Medical Dictionary – I have the 3rd edition of this book, which I relied on heavily during my training for my medical interpreter certification. If you have someone interested in interpreting or in the medical field, this will be a great addition to their reference bookshelf.
Did I forget anything? Do you have another bilingual Dictionary or Reference Guide that you would recommend? Leave me a comment please. I'd love to keep adding to this list.

We have the “First Thousand Words in Spanish” book from Usborne and it seems to do a great job too! They also have quite a few other languages that we are enjoying!
