While card games, board games, and table games can be fun, there is nothing like an active games for learning Spanish to heighten the participation, enjoyment and laughter of a learning experience and/or a gathering. Here are some great active games you can play at home, with friends or with your co-op while practicing your Spanish together.
Our Favorite Fun Active Spanish Games
Sharades – write the instructions in Spanish, and/or only allow the guessing team to make guesses with Spanish words and phrases.
Pictionary – write the instructions in Spanish, and/or only allow the guessing team to make guesses with Spanish words and phrases.
Twister – whether you have this already or can improvise by taping colored circles to the floor or painting colored circles on the lawn, this game is tons of fun, and much more so when they have to think about the colors and directions in Spanish!
Simon Dice – Simon Says is a great way to practice giving commands in Spanish!
Pato, Pato, Ganso – Yes, Spanish children love Duck, Duck, Goose too! Feeling adventurous, change up the animals with each turn to incorporate more animal vocabulary.
Musical Chairs – Use some music with a latin flair and give the instructions in Spanish as far as start, stop, which direction, etc.

Activity is one of the best ways to retain a language. Plus they break up the textbook monotony. I’m starting Spanish classes in the fall for 9th graders & will have to incorporate some of these into the classtime.
